My first album
09/30/2006
In any other year, this would be an absolutely epic entry. However Ruby's arrival has definitely relegated this to a lesser event for me. Still, suffice to say that The 4 Of Us, a band whose music I have passionately followed since I was much younger, released their latest studio album, Fingerp -
Ruby Wednesday
09/27/2006
I guess any parent can identify with this - any photo of one's own child feels like a classic. You can sit watching a baby for hours, watching its face work its way through several thousand equally captivating expressions. You want to bottle and store each and every one.
In any -
Ruby Tuesday
09/26/2006
You are looking at a picture of our 2 hour-old daughter, Ruby Matilda Rolls, brought into the world today in Hamburg at a weight of 3.94 kilos. I don't feel that words can do this event justice - language is a bit limiting sometimes. But she opened her eyes, sniffed, and then smiled -
Tube of ice cream
09/22/2006
I've heard it said that travel broadens the mind. But I guess that the creators of this saying weren't thinking of the people on the receiving end of the travel - the locals. Nevertheless, these US lovelies brightened up a cross-city tube journey with a long chat about favourite ice cream -
MOBO Awards
09/21/2006
I was fortunate enough to attend the MOBO awards this evening - a true paradise for people-spotters. For those on the lookout for effortless cool, look elsewhere, as more label couture, hairspray and rehearsed hand-gestures have gone into this event than you could possibly imagine. The most entertai -
Untied Nations
09/18/2006
I spotted this rather interesting-looking aircraft at Lubeck airport. It's the kind of child's ride that I'd normally walk right past, but my scheduled flight was late, so I had the time to check out alternative forms of transport. This was the only one I could see.

Unfallen fruit
09/16/2006
Autumn - season of mellow fruitfulness, as Mr Kipling used to say in that rather creepy voice of his. The green things wilt and fade, whilst the brown, sludgy things start to cover the ground.
The smells change as well - not necessarily in a nasty way, but they no longer have that -

M1 - first among motorways
09/14/2006
The M1 is a majestic creation of straightness, truly deserving the title of gateway to the North.
Or gateway to The South, perhaps, depending on whether you own a flat cap and a whippet.
Its many junctions hive gracefully off it like an exquisite backbone as it sashays past H -
Passport control
09/11/2006
Passport control appears to be a bit of an oxymoron in the UK. Here, recorded at half past midnight, you see a crowd of people the size of a Knebworth open-air concert waiting to have their travel documents checked. This is performed at leisure by a civil servant who attempts to exude th -
This is your captain speaking
09/09/2006
"We welcome you on board flight FR438 to Hamburg. Tonight's flying time will be approximately one hour and ten minutes. Please take a moment to observe our safety advice printed on the headrest in front of you."
"Ryanair would like to add that additional security -
It's about reach
09/08/2006
Photographically-speaking, this is a fairly standard photo. There's me, with Fujifilm's PR experts Hayley and Tara, enjoying a black tie bash in Brighton. So far, so normal.
But what really gets me is just how far my arm can reach when I've had a glass of wine or two -
Way to go
09/06/2006
If you sit back for a moment, it's almost cause for amusement. On Sunday, a stingray was blithely going about its business, hunting for fiddler crabs, whereupon it suddenly had cause to defend itself against what it thought was a large predator. Had it known it was being stalked by a crocodile -
Playtime's over
09/04/2006
Have you noticed how the term 'close of play' has crept into business conversation, totally uninvited?
I seem to have recently suffered a spate of people promising things 'by close of play'. Come 7pm, I pack up and go home without said item having appeared. It makes you won -
Blobs away
09/01/2006
What you see here is a player's eye view of a very addictive game called blob. The player in question is myself, and I am holding what could qualify for one of the worst possible hands in blob.
I am not aware that the rules of blob exist on the web, so I feel it is my duty to
